FRIDAY, December 30, 2011 MEETING NOTES Volume 46, Issue 13
We had 13 Optimists & Guests today. Joy Schewe from the Fennimore club graced us with her presence today. The Mystery Greeter was a mystery. Arnie Roper, Virg Pufahl, Gary Engelke and Ernie Thalmann wore their Optimist shirts today.

Thanks to past President Jerry Schewe for filling in for Geri Zauche this morning. Geri took her son back to the airport this morning and could not make the meeting. As you can see from above there were a few die-hards. Virg wanted to go ice fishing, but came to the meeting instead. Jerry asked us what our best or worst gifts were this Christmas. Gary Engelke said he got a new Canon SLR camera. Eileen got some new perfume. Howard got a flag flown over his son’s base in Afghanistan. |
Jerry got a football trivia booklet & asked us about some of the items in there. One was who holds the record for the most consecutive starts by a running back – 170 by Walter Payton. Another trivia is that the new expansion team New Orleans Saints was announced on All Saints Day. Another was a true/false question. The name of the first African-American QB was Willie Thrower in 1953. True – you can’t make this stuff up! I don’t think he had a running back named Willie Runner. |
John Urness said his son noticed the name change of “Tan World” to “Sun City”. Tongue-in-cheek, he asked if the next time they changed names it would be “Sun Block”. Happy New Year to everyone and we will see you at our first meeting of 2012 on January 6! |
