Today’s Speakers – Greg Griffin & Deb Draheim – Senior Village of Platteville
|
Here are Greg Griffin and Deb Draheim. Greg is the managing partner of the Senior Village of Platteville. This is the entity that owns the property. Deb Draheim is the manager for the Senior Apartments portion. They have the Senior Apartments, Park Place – a frail assisted living unit, and the Memory Care area. They also lease space to the Senior Behavioral Sciences of Southwest Health Center and to other agencies. Greg said the Memory Care unit has 14 of 17 beds full. We did not tour this area due to the chaos at breakfast time and security to ensure the people cannot wander off. He told us that the Frail Assisted Living section (Park Place) has 24 of 26 units filled. He said that 15 of the 33 Senior Apartments are occupied. He said it is slower than he projected, possibly due to the recession. |
Here is a view in the "rotunda" or common area toward one of the wings of the facility. He thanked the City for its help. The partnership received $11 million in WHEDA funding for a promise to set aside 20% of the space for Low-Moderate income people. They received $500,000 in TIF money from the City and the rest of the $15 million came from private investors. The 4 largest investors were Southwest Health Center, a Madison investor, a partnership of 9 people from Madison – all limited partners, and Greg – the General Partner |
After the speech we toured the facility and looked at this model 2 bedroom apartment. He said the charges range from $1300 for a 1 BR, 1 Bath to $1800/month for a 2 BR, 2 Bath – first floor walk out facing Smith Park. The cost may seem high until you factor in appliances, utilities, underground parking, activities and one meal per day. A typical nursing home stay is about $170 per day or over $5,000 per month. Thanks for the wonderful speech, hospitality and tour! |
