FRIDAY, November 20, 2009 MEETING NOTES Volume 44, Issue 8

We had 17 Optimists today. The Mystery Greeter was Ray Meiklejohn (I think) who greeted John Dutcher. Gary Engelke, John Urness, John Dutcher, Maxine Lane, Charlie Clark, Ernie Thalmann, Tom Nall and Ray Meiklejohn wore their Optimist shirts today.

Today’s Speaker - Maxine Lane - First National Bank Tour

Here is the gang at First National Bank in front of the Mitten Tree. We donated things to the Mitten Tree. This is a project by First National Bank to provide winter clothing for needy families.

We had a large breakfast of SOS (meat gravy on biscuits) fruit, pastry, juice & coffee in the Community Room.

Maxine said the history of First National Bank goes back to 1891 and this is the 4th building. Maybe we should call it the “Fourth” National Bank? Maxine was “born” working at First National Bank in 1968.

She said there was a design committee. For the most part, they got it right. The work flow is very good, but they need more space for storage - at least until they digitize the records. There is the Community Room plus some training spaces in the lower level.

On the second floor are the Trust & Investment group (west side) and Administration (east side). They used to look out at the "M" from the Board Room, now the only "M" they see is the one on Menards. This is where Maxine has her office.

The Data Processing area used to be in the basement and now has a window on the first floor. These folks are the happiest ones now that they can see daylight! On the west end of the floor is the lending area. They have a separate area for Ag lending and Commercial/Personal lending.

First Floor has the lobby and drive up in the central area. Personal bankers like Eileen are here in the lobby. There is a walk up express teller in the lobby also. This photo is of Maxine talking to the drive up teller from the Express Teller station. All the cash is handled in the back room with the drive up.

Thanks for the wonderful meal and tour!
