The Optimists sponsored a Bike Safety Rodeo at Legion Field on May 10, 2008.
We got started and quickly set up our rodeo.
There is a registration station where children can sign up form prizes, plus get theri bikes registered by the Police Department.
After getting a bike license you get a safety check courtesy of Momentum Bikes and Boards.
Here is Optimist Tim Murphy giving a group of bicyclists their instructions.
After the program, we had a demonstration of how a bike helmet protects your head in an accident. Optimist Tim Murphy is holding up the unprotected melon (your head) before it is dropped.
Thanks to all Optimists who showed up and helped out: Optimist Tim Murphy was the organizer. Others who helped were John Urness, . A special thank you to John Urness for the photos.
The main prizes were a boys' bike and girls' bike, donated by Wal-Mart. The club also gave helmets to 5 deserving riders.
