Rhonda Viney once again served as the coordinator of the food stand for Party in the Park on Thursday, July 24th at City Park. Several Optimists volunteered to help get the stand set up and staffed. Our thanks go out to Jerry and Helen Bierstedt, John Urness, John Dutcher, Charlie Clark, and Rhonda Viney for their help getting the hotdogs cooking and organizing the tasks related to it. Howard Crofoot, Charlie, Jerry, and Jerry Schewe distributed the hotdogs, milk and ice cream while the hotdog crew of John Urness, Helen Bierstedt, Dave Zmina, Mick Viney and Holly Cook made sure there were enough hotdogs ready for the lines of people. Over 400 people received the free food items that were donated and/or supported by local businesses and individuals! We continue to receive nice support from the community to sponsor this food stand. Special thanks go to Wal-mart for donating the buns, to Piggly Wiggly and John Dutcher for the hotdogs, to Mary Jo and Dick Loeffelholz and Swiss Valley for donating the cartons of milk, and Schoeps Ice Cream for donating some of the ice cream. The Optimist Club funds the remainder of the items such as plates, spoons, condiments, napkins, etc.

Several other organizations and/or businesses were represented with information or food booths, the concert in the park series continued with The Wundoes band, and there was a nice program that honored volunteers from several local organizations. John Urness was honored as our Volunteer of the Year. Thanks to everyone who helped and/or attended this community event!
